Delhi Airport, in particular, recorded its highest single-day passenger traffic ever, with approximately 0.23 million passengers on June 16, 2024.

The month-on-month (MoM) changes in passenger traffic at Indian airports for June 2024 reflect seasonal variations impacting travel patterns. Despite an overall 8% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers, MoM data reveals fluctuations influenced by seasonal factors.

Delhi and Hyderabad airports, for instance, saw decreases of 1% and 7% respectively compared to the previous month, while Goa's Mopa Airport experienced a 20% increase. Internationally, Medan Airport in Indonesia observed an 11% decline in MoM traffic, contrasting with Cebu Airport in the Philippines, which recorded a 6% increase.

Among the airports, Delhi reported the highest passenger traffic with 6.49 million passengers in June 2024, reflecting a 9% year-on-year increase. In contrast, Medan Airport in Indonesia recorded the least traveled international traffic, experiencing an 11% decline year-on-year with 595,342 passengers.

Air Passenger Traffic Demand in India FY 25 

ICRA forecasts robust growth in India's air passenger traffic for FY 2025, projecting a substantial 8-11% year-on-year increase to a record high of 407-418 million passengers. This surge, driven by both domestic and international travel, reflects a strong rebound in leisure and business sectors and improved connectivity to new destinations.
