In Q1FY25, Jupiter Electric Mobility Private Limited (JEM), a subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons Limited, has received approval from The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for its Battery Operated Light Commercial Vehicle, JEM TEZ.

This 1-ton commercial electric vehicle (EV) is the first of its kind in the market and boasts industry-leading fast charging technology. JEM's initial commercial production is set to begin in Q3FY25.

Additionally, JEM has collaborated with Log9 Materials Private Limited to develop and certify Lithium-Ion Phosphate (LFP) battery technology for Indian Railways, marking another significant milestone. As of 30th June 2024, Jupiter Wagons' order book stands at ₹ 7,02,834 lakh.

Jupiter Wagons Q1 FY25 Results

Jupiter Wagons Limited has delivered outstanding financial results for Q1FY25. The company's total income for the quarter stood at ₹ 90,219 lakh, marking a 19.4% increase year-over-year (YoY). The EBITDA for Q1FY25 reached ₹ 12,886 lakh, a rise of 32.4% YoY, with the EBITDA margin improving to 14.4%.

The consolidated EBITDA margin for the quarter was 15.5%, despite challenges posed by a two-month general election and peak summer conditions affecting the supply chain across its multi-location plants.

The company's Profit After Tax (PAT) for Q1FY25 was ₹ 8,923 lakh, up 40.3% YoY, with a PAT margin of 9.9%. Earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter stood at ₹ 2.16 per share, with a face value of ₹ 10 each. Jupiter Wagons' wheelset manufacturing subsidiary reported a five-fold increase in revenue YoY and turned profitable with a PAT of ₹ 702 lakh in Q1FY25.

Commenting on the results, Mr. Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Wagons Ltd., expressed excitement over the outstanding performance. He highlighted the company's total income of ₹ 90,219 lakh, a 19% increase YoY.

The EBITDA soared to ₹ 12,886 lakh, up 32%, with the EBITDA margin improving from 12.9% in Q1FY24 to 14.4%. The PAT reached ₹ 8,923 lakh, a 40% rise, with the PAT margin increasing to 9.9%. Despite the general election and peak summer, the company maintained a strong consolidated EBITDA margin of 15.5%.

The wagon business remains crucial for Jupiter Wagons, contributing approximately 80% of its revenue. The company is diversifying into sectors such as railway components, commercial vehicles, brake discs, brake systems, and containers.

The recent acquisition of Bonatrans has been highly successful, with revenue increasing five-fold to ₹ 7,436 lakh, EBITDA rising to ₹ 930 lakh with a margin of 12.5%, and PAT reaching ₹ 702 lakh, turning positive YoY in Q1FY25.
