NMDC Iron Ore Production in June 2024 Sees Slight Decline

NMDC released its June figures for production and sales of iron ore across its mine, which shows a slight decline in both sales and production.

NMDC Iron Ore Production in June 2024 Sees Slight Decline

In Chhattisgarh, NMDC produced 2.21 million tonnes (MT) of iron ore in June 2024, a decrease from 2.29 MT in June 2023. However, sales in the state saw an increase, rising from 2.55 MT last year to 2.68 MT this year. For the first six months of 2024, Chhattisgarh's production reached 5.83 MT, down from 7.38 MT in the same period in 2023, while sales decreased from 7.85 MT to 7.33 MT.

Karnataka showed a slight decrease in production, from 1.19 MT in June 2023 to 1.16 MT in June 2024. Sales in Karnataka dropped more significantly, from 1.55 MT to 1.05 MT. However, the state saw a marginal increase in cumulative production, from 3.32 MT in the first half of 2023 to 3.36 MT in 2024, while cumulative sales fell from 3.30 MT to 2.74 MT.

Overall, NMDC's total iron ore production for June 2024 stood at 3.37 MT, a decrease from 3.48 MT in June 2023. Sales for the month dropped from 4.10 MT to 3.73 MT. For the first half of 2024, cumulative production totaled 9.19 MT, down from 10.70 MT in the same period last year, and cumulative sales decreased from 11.15 MT to 10.07 MT.

These figures reflect the current challenges in the mining sector, highlighting the need for strategies to boost production and sales in the upcoming months.
