SBI Cards and Payment Services Limited has released its financial results for the quarter ending June 30, 2024. The company’s revenue from operations for Q1 FY25 stood at ₹4,483 crore, marking an 11% increase compared to ₹4,046 crore in the same quarter last year.

The company’s Profit After Tax (PAT) for Q1 FY25 was ₹594 crore, slightly up from ₹593 crore in Q1 FY24. Despite this growth in PAT, key financial metrics showed some declines.

The Return on Assets (ROAA) decreased to 4.1% from 5.0% in Q1 FY24, and the Return on Equity (ROAE) fell to 19.1% from 23.3% year-on-year. The Capital Adequacy Ratio stood at 20.6%, with Tier 1 capital at 16.8%.

In terms of business performance, SBI Cards saw a growth of 11% in cards-in-force, reaching 1.92 crore as of Q1 FY25, up from 1.73 crore a year ago. New accounts volume decreased to 904,000 in Q1 FY25 from 1,097,000 in Q1 FY24.

The company reported a 4% increase in spending, reaching ₹77,129 crore, compared to ₹73,913 crore in the previous year. Receivables also grew significantly by 22% to ₹52,705 crore from ₹43,271 crore year-on-year.

SBI Cards maintains a strong market position with a market share of 18.5% in cards-in-force and 15.9% in spends for Q1 FY25, although it slightly dropped from 19.6% and 17.8% respectively in Q1 FY24. The company is ranked #2 in cards-in-force and #3 in spending within the industry.

Total operating costs decreased by 7% to ₹1,816 crore. Earnings before credit costs grew by 25% to ₹1,900 crore, but impairment losses and bad debts rose by 53% to ₹1,101 crore.

The balance sheet as of June 30, 2024, showed a total size of ₹59,513 crore, up from ₹58,171 crore as of March 31, 2024. Total advances increased to ₹50,807 crore from ₹49,079 crore, and net worth grew to ₹12,752 crore from ₹12,156 crore.

Asset quality saw a rise in gross non-performing assets to 3.06% of gross advances from 2.41% a year ago, while net non-performing assets increased to 1.11% from 0.89%. The company’s Capital Adequacy Ratio (CRAR) decreased to 20.6% from 22.9%, and Tier I capital dropped to 16.8% from 20.3%.
